Legal SEO services for law firms, itemized and priced

Legal SEO services are the technical, content and authority work that makes a firm's website rank for the searches its clients actually run. Our Practice Sprint is $1,450 and the build tier is $2,900, both fixed. We never charge per lead or per case, and we say why below.

What do legal SEO services actually include?

Four workstreams, and most suppliers describe them without ever saying what you receive at the end.

Here is what arrives, by name:

WorkstreamWhat you actually receiveWhen
TechnicalA crawl report, a fixed site, and a written list of what changedWeeks 1–3
ArchitectureA page map: one page per practice area, one per location servedWeek 2
ContentDrafted and published pages, each mapped to a named searchWeeks 3–10
AuthorityA citation and link record, with the source of each entryOngoing
ReportingA monthly document in plain English, not a dashboard exportMonthly

The row that decides whether the engagement works is the second one. A firm with one page for six practice areas is asking a single document to rank for six different intentions, and it will lose to six focused pages every time.

A damaging admission, early: month one produces nothing you can measure. The crawl, the fixes and the page map all happen before a single ranking moves. Any supplier promising visible movement in the first four weeks is either counting impressions or selling something else.

Does SEO work for law firms?

Yes, and the honest form of the answer is that it works where the searches exist and does nothing where they do not.

The test is arithmetic rather than opinion. In New York, 14,800 people a month search for personal injury representation, and Google charges around $73.14 for one of those clicks — measured 3 August 2026. That is roughly $1.08 million a month of traffic being bought by somebody, in one practice area, in one city.

Ranking organically for those searches is not competing with the advertisers. It is appearing above them without paying by the click.

Where it does not work: a firm whose constraint is fee-earner capacity rather than instructions. If the diary is already full, better rankings produce declined work and a longer waiting list. That is a real limit and it is worth establishing before anybody spends anything.

What does it cost, and what do you get for it?

The Practice Sprint is $1,450 and the build tier is $2,900. Both are fixed, published, and quoted before you speak to anybody.

That sentence is unusual in this market, and the count behind it is the reason we lead with it. We read 40 legal-marketing suppliers in full on 3 August 2026. Twelve published a price at all. Five of those twelve published only a "from" figure rather than a number. So a partner comparing suppliers is, in most cases, comparing things whose cost is not stated.

It matters more than it sounds, because 15 of the 62 questions buyers ask on these searches are price questions. The most-asked question in this market is the one almost nobody answers.

What we checked across 40 suppliersCount
Published any price12
Published a real figure rather than a range7
Claimed a guarantee of some kind8
Offered work with no minimum term1

The last row is the one to read twice. One supplier in forty will let a firm stop when it wants to. We are that kind of arrangement, and it is a deliberate answer to the thing partners actually fear, which is not the fee but the lock-in.

Why do you refuse to charge per lead?

Because the model is prohibited in parts of this profession and unwise in the rest of it.

Referral fees are restricted in prescribed legal business, and the restriction binds the firm paying as well as the party being paid. A firm buying representation inquiries at a price each is exposed, and so is the arrangement it sits inside. In the United States, lawyer advertising runs through ABA Model Rule 7.2(b), adopted differently in every state, which means an arrangement that is ordinary in one jurisdiction can be a problem in the next one.

We charge for the work, by scope and time. Never by outcome, never by volume, never per inquiry.

Most suppliers pitching law firms do not know the rule exists. That is worth knowing about a supplier before signing with them.

How long before it produces instructions?

Three to four months before movement, six to nine before it is fair to judge, and the first quarter looks like failure while working correctly.

Rising impressions with flat clicks is what movement through positions 30 to 11 looks like. It reads as nothing happening, and it is the single most common reason a firm abandons work that was on track.

One more reason to expect the wait rather than resent it: AI Overviews now appear on 39 of the 54 money searches in this market, measured 3 August 2026. A page that answers a question directly, in its first forty words, gets summarized and cited. A page that opens with a paragraph about the firm's commitment to excellence does not. That changes what gets built, not how fast it works.

What does the reporting actually look like?

One document a month, in prose, naming what changed and what it did.

Not a dashboard export. Partners bill in six-minute units and will not spend twenty of them decoding a traffic chart. The document answers four questions: what we did, what moved, what did not, and what happens next. It is written to be forwarded to somebody who was not in the meeting.

If a report cannot survive being read by the other partner, it is not a report. It is an invoice with graphs.

Where should I read next?

Lawyer SEO marketing covers the month-by-month sequence rather than the deliverable list. SEO for law firm covers how pages map onto practice areas, which is the decision that most often determines whether any of this works. Legal SEO services Houston runs the same arithmetic on the most expensive personal injury market we measured.

For the wider picture, marketing the law firm covers every channel rather than search alone, and lawyer firm marketing compares suppliers, including where one of them fits a firm better than we do.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in legal SEO services?

Technical fixes, a page map, published content mapped to named searches, citation and link work, and a monthly written report. The deliverable list above names each artifact and when it arrives, which is the part most suppliers leave undefined.

How much do legal SEO services cost?

Our Practice Sprint is $1,450 and the build tier is $2,900, both fixed and published. Of the 40 suppliers we read on 3 August 2026, twelve published any price and five of those gave only a range, so most comparisons a firm makes are between undisclosed figures.

Do you charge per lead or per case?

No. Referral fees are restricted in prescribed legal business and the restriction binds the paying firm as well as the recipient, and US lawyer advertising runs through ABA Model Rule 7.2(b) state by state. We charge for the work by scope and time.

Is there a minimum term?

No. Of the 40 suppliers we read, one offered work with no minimum term. A firm should be able to stop when it wants to, and the absence of that option is usually the real objection rather than the fee.

How long before a law firm sees results from SEO?

Three to four months before movement, six to nine before a fair judgement. The first quarter typically shows rising impressions with flat clicks, which is what moving through positions 30 to 11 looks like and reads as failure while working correctly.

Does SEO work for every law firm?

No. A firm whose constraint is fee-earner capacity rather than inquiries will get declined work and a longer waiting list from better rankings. That should be settled before anybody spends anything.

Can you guarantee a ranking?

No, and neither can anyone else, because nobody controls the ranking. Eight of the 40 suppliers we read claim a guarantee of some kind. Declining to offer one is the more accurate position.
